Jan Barker was awarded the M.A. in Creative Writing, with Distinction, by Birmingham City University in 2017, following two years of study. Based in Birmingham, Jan writes short and flash fiction and drama following an early escape from a career in local government and has now completed her first stage play. She has previously studied with the Writers’ Bureau and Arvon Foundation. Jan's story 'Summer, Nineteen Sixty Four' was Highly Commended in the Bare Fiction Prize for Short Story 2015.
